Best Wireless Thermometer
"I spent some time reviewing different wireless thermometers when I bought one (Chef IQ Sense) last year and was not happy with it because it always lost connection. When reading reviews online it seems that's what a lot of these type of thermometers have in common. I was watching Mad Scientist Barbecue with Jeremy Yoder and he was using the RFX system. Clicked on his link and went to the website. I liked what I saw and decided to spend the extra money to get a 2 probe starter pack. I've used it once so far for grilling steak. Never lost connection once. The old one I had bought would've lost connection at least 3x. I love how the probes charge separately from the unit transmitting the temps. I'm looking forward to future cooks."
RFX Wireless Probe is great
"Recently purchased the RFX Wireless Probe Starter Kit. I have cooked fish twice using the probes. The RFX is easy to set up and allows me to set temps in the app to alert me when I have different sizes of fish, yet allowing each to cook to the perfect temp. The RFX range and signal strength is excellent. I can monitor the cooking temps with my fish on the grill while I am in the kitchen getting the rest of the meal ready."
IMO better than chefs temp!
"I bought the RFX gateway along with the the billows fan to run my old country gravity smoker. I previously had a chef’s temp S1 temp and breezo fan. I noticed that the digital temp probe on the chef’s temp was not accurate, and the breezo fan would blow right by my set temperature. I’ve been through 2 breezo fans and currently have another one sitting in an unopened box. I guess it’s the algorithm or the probe that keeps my temps rock solid with the rfx system. Hopefully it lasts!"
Fantastic!
"I hesitated ordering when the RFX first came out. I already have the Signals, so the RFX seemed like a luxury purchase. I should have bought the RFX sooner! Very easy to set up, especially if you already have the app installed. Seemless operation. I tried them first on some boneless chicken thighs. I had to weave the probes in, but they worked great!. Can’t wait to do some tri tip and brisket."
so far so good!
"this tool is incredibly convenient. my first cook with it was spot on! instructions were clear, and the quality of the components are obviously good. if i had one complaint, it would be that the grill temp probe was missing the grill clip, that I have received with past probes of this type. but again great job with this RFX series. I will stick with this one!"
Awesome
"Things work great. Have the Smoke Signal too, but I love the RFX more. I use them for every cook now. No more guessing, awesome for the rotisserie too, no cords to deal with. If they broke would I buy them again? Yes!"
Great Sale
"I'm an existing customer who wanted more probes and to fill my 10-probe charger. I bought a 4-probe starter kit a year or two ago when it was on sale, and I had bought two more probes recently when they were on sale, but I couldn't pass on this deal. I bought this starter kit simply for the four probes; the sale price was more cost-effective than buying the probes individually, even at their best sale price. Additionally, now I have a spare gateway that I can pack away in case I ever need it"
Very Useful Product
"I have now used the wireless probe on Beef Filets, Chicken breasts and butterfly pork chops. So nice to have an alert when the meat is ready at the desired temperature. All three meats turned out perfect! Realized I needed to be careful and not accidentally run the probe through the meat (caught it in time). It is a bit more challenging on a thinner cut in my case the butterfly chops. Overall, very happy I purchased."
Learning curve for sure, but
"Learning curve for sure, but once you get it you get it. You either need to buy the battery bank or get a Thermacell pack on Amazon with a straight dc to usb-c adapter and a dumb male to female dc cable. The fan will not spin unless it gets 12v. Your portable battery pack you already own won’t get the job done. Great product, great ecosystem. I won’t consider any other brand."
Accurate and Easy to Use
"I just purchased the RFX Gateway and wireless probe. I have only used it once, but it was easy to set up and worked flawlessly. I barbecued a prime rib roast on my Kamado Joe using the rotisserie, and it came out perfectly. I was able to set the "done" temperature and monitor the progress on the up - no running out to the BBQ every 15 minutes to check doneness! It is a time and peace of mind saver!"
Q&A
- It says it has an operating temperature of 120deg F. Can you use the wired probe monitor the temp of a normal gas grill or oven? Interested in using it in the oven or for steaks on a grill that may get up to 500deg.
- The operating temperature specification for RFX GATEWAY is for the physical unit itself. The included ambient probe can measure up to 572°F. Great for an oven, grill, or smoker.
- I have a RFX gateway, what usb charging devise is needed to charge correctly. Mine does not seem to charge properly.
- Any USB-A to USB-C cable should work. Avoid using USB-C to USB-C cables. If you still have difficulty charging your RFX GATEWAY or have additional questions, call our Utah-based support team at 800-393-6434.
