The Dream Scale
"What I value most about this scale is its accuracy to 0. 1 gram, and it's design. What is mosts unique, remarkable, and useful is its removable magnetic backlit display, allowing easy visibility by better positioing of it when putting mixing bowls, large pans, or trays on the scale. the one improvement I would like to have is for the turn off button to have less than 3 seconds."
This scale is so slow to respond - horrible
"It is like they did not testing on this. The amount lags and updates so slowly that you will overshoot ingredients as you are trying to weigh them out. This thing is going right back. A long wait for a poor performing product. I am a long-term customer of thermoworks and love their stuff, but this one is poor quality and they let it out the door anyway which is too bad."
"Finally got my Gravitas kitchen scale, and it's the same robost build and accuracy that I've come to expect from ThermoWorks. The removable display works flawlessly, and I'm more confident that my ingredient weights are spot on. Highly recommended."
The best scale
"I am a chef and recipe developer who uses this scale from making my espresso in the morning, to weighing out ingredients for my recipes. The accuracy is the best of any scale I have used. I also love that you can remove the screen, I have found this useful when weighing items on a sheet tray that would block a normal screen. Will be the only scale I ever need moving forward."
Slower performance than I would like
"Got the preorder delivered today as my father's days gift. Used it to divide and portion 36 dinner rolls. Accuracy seems solid, but much slower my other two kitchen scales. Think I will like it in the long term. Not sure if it's the wireless display or what, but it takes a beat or two longer than I'm accustomed to give the measure."
Love the accuracy
"I was making a brine for some pastrami, and the recipe called for exactly 20. 8 grams. With my old scale, I would’ve been watching it bounce between 20 and 21 grams and just hoping I was close. 😂 With this scale, I know I’m getting precise measurements every time, which is especially important when making brines and measuring spices. The detachable display is also a huge plus. When I’m using larger mixing bowls, I don’t have to keep shifting the bowl around just to see the numbers. I can simply move the display where I can easily read it. Super convenient, accurate, and a great addition to my kitchen setup."
Where have you been all my life!
"I have used a kitchen scale for years for both baking and barbecue. The biggest problem with all other scales is that my pans and bowls are so big, I can rarely see the read out. With the Gravitas, I can now remove the front plate so the pans no longer cover the data. Brilliant! Plus, because this is a Thermoworks product, I trust the accuracy 100%."
Last scale you will ever buy!
"First thing that sold me is the precision. This thing measures down to a tenth of a gram with 0. 7g accuracy. That’s not marketing fluff — that’s the kind of accuracy that actually matters when you’re dialing in a rub, a brine, or a bake where being off by a little means being off by a lot. When I put something on this scale, I trust the number. Every time. But my favorite feature? The removable screen. The display pulls right off and it’s fully wireless with magnets and a big backlit readout you can stand up wherever you can actually see it. If you’ve ever tried to read a number buried under a giant sheet pan or a mixing bowl, you already know why this is a game changer. No more leaning over, squinting, or moving the whole setup just to catch a weight. It rotates too, so it reads right no matter which side you’re standing on. At $119 it’s not the cheapest scale on the shelf — but it’s the last one you’ll need to buy and you will be glad you did!"
Beats every scale on the market

Q&A
- Can the tare weight be customized to account for the the weight of an empty container without food/liquid/etc. before use or do you have to place your empty container first?
- You have to place your empty bowl on Gravitas before taring.
- The kitchen scale that I use now also has a timeout that turns off the display after 5 minutes of inactivity. When this happens, if I press the power button it will bring back the previous measurement (just like Gravitas). HOWEVER, there is a flaw in their design, in that if the weight on the scale changes in any way after the screen times out, then the scale will discard the current weight and reset itself to zero (auto-tare) when it's turned on again. I want to make sure this does NOT happen with the Gravitas. If the 5-minute screen timeout happens and weight is added or removed before pressing the power button to resume, does it show the correct weight based on the original tare amount before the timeout happened or does the tare reset?
- Yes, Gravitas will show the correct weight.
- IF YOU PUT A BOWL ON THE SCALE DOES THE SCALE ADJUST BACK TO ZERO SO THAT YOU GET AN ACCURATE WEGHT READING OF YOUR INGREDIENT?
- Yes. You simply press the TARE button to tare (zero out) the bowl's weight.
- What is the backlight behavior for the display and is it configurable? The demo video shows the backlight turning on when the display is removed from the base. What are the timouts? What actions turn the backlight on/off?
- The backlight automatically turns on when Gravitas is powered on and when any change in weight is detected on the scale. The backlight turns off after 15 seconds of inactivity. The display remains on for 5 minutes after inactivity. The backlight timing is not configurable.
- Does the display have magnets to mount on a refrigerator for viewing?
- Yes! The display has magnets on both the bottom and the back of the display.
